TYRE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
LOAD INDICES
Drivers and tyre servicing and fitting personel should be aware that load ratings exist to protect the public from the possible outcome of overloading a tyre.
Tyres can be overloaded in a number of ways, which can prove fatal even at lower speeds:
  • Carrying more weight than it is designed to carry.
  • Running at a lower than specified pressure, which can cause heat build up that can destroy the tyre.
  • Over inflating a tyre.

NOTE: The load index ratings apply to a properly inflated tyre, and it is a breach of construction and use Regulations to run on overloaded tyres, or on tyres with the wrong load rating. The load-index imprinted on the sidewall of the tyre denotes the maximum load capacity of a tyre when driven at maximum speed.
